5'9" / 150 lbs

"When I was 42 years old my parents gave us a 20th wedding anniversary gift for a week-long trip to Canyon Ranch in Massachusetts and while there, they determined that my BMI was around 30+, my weight was 220 pounds and I did no exercise. I had had an aunt pass away who was probably about 750 pounds, and her son passed away at 400 pounds and that was not the way I wanted to go.   While at Canyon Ranch, they found out I was allergic to wheat, milk, and refined sugar, which helped me understand why I had been having upper respiratory infections my entire life.  So I got off wheat, milk, and refined sugar.  They also told me that I needed to get in the gym everyday for 30 minutes, starting on a treadmill for 30 minutes at 3 miles an hour, and that when I got bored with that, to do something else, but that I needed to get in the gym 365 days a year to make it a habit and that's what I started doing, along with getting rid of the wheat, milk, and refined sugar from my diet."
