Hey, thanks for checking out my site! Really, who doesn't want to know the secrets that thin people have been keeping from the rest of us forever! Under my deep interrogation, I get the goods. Seriously, Why Are You... Thin? is filled with helpful, honest, and personal insight from thin people. The photos in the gallery here are just the beginning - the stories behind them are inspirational, insightful, funny, and touching - and we're all going to learn some kickass tricks and tools to eat healthier, lengthen our lives, and maybe make ourselves happier.
You'll notice, as the project evolves, that I'll be including many people who might not fit into societal norms of "thin," but who are their "own thin" and feeling great about themselves! It is not my intention to add to our saturated self-image issues, and I am very grateful for the honest insight regarding the choices made by men and women of every body type; but the question, "why are you thin?" is something I've asked silently of others for years as a non-thin person, and I know I'm not alone in my interest to learn the habits and mindset of those who are thin (either by society's standards or people enjoying their "own thin"). I am fascinated by every person I interview, and deeply touched by the generosity of spirit in people who earnestly want to help others. So, of course, I'm excited to share the findings in my book (coming out in early 2017) and through the one-question interviews accompanying the photos here on this site, with the hope that it will be profoundly humanizing and uplifting to all - thin, thick, or just curious!
Why Are You Thin? is the beginning of a long-standing dream of mine, and my lifelong passion of design, reading, and writing is now culminating in this compelling new project. I believe most things are possible with perseverance and a little magic! That belief might come from free-spirit San Franciscan roots and the street cred of being a New Yorker for half my life, which has exposed me to a LOT of people with big dreams, working hard to make them come true. I'm also a creative professional, philanthropist, and the co-founder of the beautiful and meaningful jewelry company, One Meaning (< click to check out the magic). I am weirdly proud, for better or worse, that my default answer to most questions is "YES!" Don't we all need more yes in our lives? I hope you say yes and read, enjoy, participate...and possibly, click that interview button above. I'd love to hear from you. You are fascinating to me.
Peace,
Ingrid Hobbs
